Original version in Farsi and German with English subtitles.

Up to eight million Iranians live in the diaspora and are connected to their loved ones at home via Skype, Zoom and WhatsApp. Berlin-based Faraz Fesharaki spent ten years documenting online exchanges with his parents in Isfahan: Discussions about gender roles, Persian cuisine and the weather – but also his mother’s imprisonment. Cousin Rahi contributes his own views from Austria. Fesharaki’s film is full of humor and warmth – and sometimes there is silence, because you can’t talk about everything.

Followed by a Zoom discussion with the filmmaker Faraz Fesharaki (on request).
