The true story of Hossain Sabzian that impersonated the director Mohsen Makhmalbaf to convince the family Ahankhah they would star in his so-called new film. Kiarostami filmed the trial against Makhmalbaf and let the involved parties reenact the events.

Abbas Kiarostami’s (*1940 in Tehran †2016 in Paris) early work already gave the audience a glimpse into the former graphic designer’s great talent and dedication to his work and his handling of amateur actors and children. He revealed his love toTati, Ozu, Rossellini and Bresson. Later on, he became internationally renowned for his film “Taste of Cherry”, which won the “Palme d’Or” at Cannes. Kiarostami’s legacy will live on: humanistic, self-reflective, socially committed, and poetically carried away.
