Saeed Nouri has sifted through 800 Iranian films from the National Archive, selected 150 of them and condensed them into a 100-minute film about the history of Tehran. It is simultaneously a passage through the city’s development, through the change in modern concepts and through the historical break that 1979 represented: extremely instructive, incredibly entertaining – and a culture shock for people with a preconceived image of Iran. “Tehran, an unfinished history” is an overwhelming collage of clips that never lets up for a moment.
