The “Qashqai Female Voices” project, initiated and curated by ethnomusicologist Yalda Yazdani and Christoph Wieland, takes a new look at the rich but marginalized culture of Qashqai women in southwest Iran in a series of events – so far at the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum. On 2 June, a film program in the Lutherkirche in Südstadt will provide an insight into the singing, crafts, rituals and visual art of the nomadic tribe. This will be followed by a panel discussion comparing positions of minority and female filmmaking.
